Hi, this is Catherine. I am a freelancer as an English-speaking tour guide and business interpreter in Beijing where I live at the moment. My mother language is mandarin and I am excellent in oral English.
I was born in Suzhou - a very beautiful city famous for its private gardens and water village. I went to Beijing in 2000 where I learned my English in the Beijing Foreign Studies University. After graduation, I worked in a real estate agency for one year introducing foreign clients to Beijing and helping them find living accommodations. After that, I worked as an assistant and interpreter for four foreign journalists covering numerous Chinese cultural topics. I was formally trained as an English-speaking tour guide, and I am a certified Beijing tour guide . As a tour guide in Beijing I have guided many clients from many different countries. I also traveled with them to other cities such as Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou and XiAn.
As business interpreter I have performed a multitude of functions for clients. I have: 1) researched and identified potential Chinese partners or joint venture clients; 2) arranged business meetings between foreign and Chinese companies; 3) provided interpretation services during many business meetings and negotiations. I have been hired by foreign companies to interpret for them with Chinese companies, and I have been hired by Chinese companies to interpret for them with foreign companies. As a result I have a strong understanding of the interests of both foreign and Chinese companies.
As for my personality, I am extremely honest and ethical, open-minded, considerate, polite, well-educated and intelligent.. I always put the clients’ interest ahead of mine.
