Jay Chou, Convenience Store and lots of Folk music

Well...after a day of bloating ourselves on turkey and pumpkin pie (sorry Shanghaiist is American and assumes that everyone else wants to be one) the perfect cure is a night of live music. Lucky for us Convenience Store, one of Beijing's longest lasting and most reputable Brit-pop bands, is going to be playing out at Live Bar tonight. Shanghaiist has waited along time to see this band, in the past we were busy or too damn lazy to get off our ass and go to their show. If you're in the mood for something a little harder, Kidney Stone, a local band of expats will be playing hard, fast rock at Yuyintang. On Saturday 8 folk bands will be out at Live bar, in what they are billing the biggest gathering of Shanghai folk artists this year. That same night Brandon Thomas a blues guitarist from Texas is performing at Yuyintang. Also worth checking is out are those crazy Lab cats who are holding yet another Back to the Roots party at 4live. If that ain't enough to satisfy your musical taste buds, then Jay Chou, one of the biggest pop stars in China, is playing at Shanghai Stadium. We heard this show sold out within the first 2 days of ticket release... but, then again, we hear that a lot. Oh, and for any readers who happen to be in Suzhou tomorrow we recommend checking out the Miniless showcase, featuring some great bands like Muscle Snog, Monkey Power, the Los and more. We are booking our train tickets to Suzhou now.
