Beijing: About.com is looking for a writer

About.com seeks a Beijing-based writer to blog daily during the upcoming Olympics. We're looking for a gifted scribe able to evoke the experience of being in Beijing during the Games through street vignettes, photographs, informal surveys and interviews. Think classic travelogues and their ability to portray the entirety of a locale through snapshots. The writer must be organized, have strong interviewing/observational skills, speak enough Mandarin to communicate with everyday Chinese on the street, be able to meet daily deadlines, and have access to a digital camera (video a plus). Must be available to spend time developing and writing a story each day from August 6-26.

Please send a resume plus 1-2 writing samples, preferably of experiential journalism, to fmeyer@about.com.
